One of the perils of one-party government is unchecked corruption. On September 18, the fed chairman and treasury secretary lectured Senator Dick Durbin on how troubled the financial sector truly was. On September 19, he dumped more than $40,000 in mutual-fund shares. Insider trading? It smells fishy, but we don't know and we won't know because it won't be investigated properly. The Obama administration, reportedly by Michelle Obama's insistence, fired an inspector general charged with looking into AmeriCorps and other boondoggles. They claimed he was "confused" and "disoriented." Perhaps Gerald Walpin was "confused" when he thought he could keep his job after he uncovered Obama supporter Kevin Johnson's use of AmeriCorps funds to pay campaign activists, get his car washed, and run his personal errands. He's certainly "disoriented" if he believes Congress will thoroughly investigate the shenanigans that led to his purge. Who's going to investigate the second-ranking Senate Democrat? The Obama Justice Department? Who's going to investigate the president's shady firing of an inspector general inspecting too much? The Democratic Congress?
40K? c'mon....The second example fits better. Who risks such a charge for 40k?
With the news media in bed with this administration as no other in history- the only question is whether the American public sees through the fog that the media sets in motion for Obama. Lately I sense that this may be occuring. The gallup poll showing over twice as many identifying as conservative vs. liberal. The poll numbers on Obama's policies and the direction he is going- (not on him personally) are reassuring as well. One thing power politics of this type have against them is the fatigue factor. Being the media is so entrenched its an open question. But I sense this is a one term presidency and a very weak one at that (however: the financial toll will be decades of pain). As far as the fact he is immune at this time to political corruption charges will probably lead to more arrogance ( this guy is a disciple of Alinski- so go figure) and that could lead to a huge fracture in the electorate (as is well known arrogance of this type leads to shooting oneself in the foot a lot and the dems and repub. have done it frequently). My only fear is another 9/11 and I believe that could lead to a lot of question marks for all of us. This guy is as scary as advertised.
Mark R, "poll showing over twice as many identifying as conservative vs. liberal"
I'm betting those weren't the only two options. I'd be interested to see what percentage, if given a choice, self-identify as progressive or independent.
This is a President who holds the Constitution of the United States in complete disregard and is working to skirt it and Congress as much as possible. He is clearly looking to centralize Executive power and not govern but rule. With an iron fist I might add. All that will come out of this is more chaos than we’re already witness to.
Mark R - agreed. Good an@lysis.

Are you ever going to look something up yourself?
"GOP Sen. Charles Grassley of Iowa is pressing Obama for more details. Tough questions need to be asked of the first lady, who has "taken the lead" in selecting AmeriCorps' managers, according to Youth Today. Her former chief of staff, Jackie Norris, will serve as a "senior adviser" to CNCS beginning next week. What role did they play in Walpin's sacking? And why?
Mrs. Obama's interest is more than passing. She ran the AmeriCorps-funded nonprofit Public Allies in Chicago from 1993-1996 and served on its national board until 2001. Like so many of the AmeriCorps recipients investigated by the inspector general's office over the years, Public Allies was found to have violated basic eligibility and compliance rules. A January 2007 audit reported that the group lacked internal controls verifying that recipients of education grants and living allowances were legal citizens or permanent residents as required by law.
Transparency. Accountability. Fiscal responsibility. In Obama World, these are proving to be nothing more than words. Just words."
Corruption is, as corruption does.
asdf, yet again you asked for it:
conservatives - 40%
moderates - 35%
liberals - 21%
although conservatives still outnumber liberals 2-1 don't forget about moderates. These are people who see reasonable arguments on both sides, consider themselves independent, or even don't pay attention to politics at all. Kind of convenient how you left that out.
What someone like you might find most disturbing though is: ...even though 40 percent of the country considers itself conservative, over 60 percent of Americans give President Obama a positive job approval rating.
zxcv,
I have never been polled and I refuse to let peer pressure or political correctness affect my values. Just because alot of people believe something doesn't make it right (slavery?). Polls are a lazy substitutes for news. If 99% of people polled said that Santa Claus is real, I would conclude that 1% of those polled were sane. Polls are just useful tools for propaganda. Sometimes "the people" are just wrong.
