'O' Is For Overexposed

Obama's spin doctors misread his sinking poll numbers. They believe the solution to their slump is more Obama. Obama in every school. Obama art for NEA-funded projects. And another, prime-time Obama address next Wednesday. This is more of the medicine that made their patient sick in the first place. Does it occur to them that America may be suffering from Obama fatigue? Calvin Coolidge, he is not.

That overexposure causes Obama to fall in the polls makes for an interesting hypothesis, but do we really know this?

Perhaps there are other causes, and this is simply correlation.

Yeah, and it's not like infomercials or motivational speakers are hard to find.

I'd rather have more cowbell.

President Obama should call the Dem. leaders to the oval room and tell them that if they don't stand for a compresensive health care reform bill, including a public option, they don't stand for anything.

Good thing that this pro-reform guy is not living under O care. He could say goodbye to getting his finger re-attached.

Obama was elected by the voters for two primary reasons. 1.)To fix the economy. 2.)To improve America's image abroad. To date both of these areas have gotten markedly worse.

While there are issues with health care that do need to be addressed, most Americans are generally quite pleased with the quality of health care that they are getting. As such, from the perspective of main stream America it seems silly to be spending so much time and energy on such a minor issue as this.

On what planet did those voters live on who selected Obama to fix the economy and improve our standing abroad who thought it was possible to accomplish anything toward those complicated ends by selecting a part time community organizer and college professor and a guy who in his short un-remarkable political career got that voting ‘present’ thing down to a science?

Suppose they believed in magic and unicorns too.

I don't think that the cause is overexposure. The electorate is past the crush stage of its love affair. Now it's in the stage when it's realizing that its boyfriend has flaws.

Following along the lines of that an@logy, it would be like he was loved but then it was discovered how creepy he is so the former lovefest has ended. And now he's turned the tables and is stalking.

Because everywhere you turn and everything you listen to the guy is there!

Notice I did not say the voters necessarily made the wisest choice when they elected Obama, however, in their defense, the Republican party did not exactly give the voters a very good choice. We were coming off the worst president in the history of the country and the voters thought that Obama would be a better bet to fix the economy and improve America's image abroad than another Republican would be.

So far it hasn't worked out but there is no question that Obama inherited a mess. This is probably why he is getting more leeway from the voters than would normally be expected. Also, he is getting constant favorable exposure from the media but all of this is starting wear thin. At least the voter patience is.

If the economy has not improved markedly or is not showing real signs of improvement by the middle of 2010, the Democrats will face an uphill battle to maintain control of Congress. If the economy actually does improve, the Democrats sail to victory and likely increase their margins in Congress.

"We were coming off the worst president in the history of the country"

Really? How so? Because the media told everybody that that was how they should think?

He had faults and made mistakes. Like ALL Chief Executives of the United States. But did he have more faults and make more mistakes than other ones? The media would certainly have us think so and a lot of people got sucked in.

The reality is that things weren't particularly bad under his watch.

I think you'd have do better than G.W. Bush to label one the worst president in history.
