Court Martial Is the New Commendation Medal

Petty Officers Matthew McCabe, Jonathan O'Keefe, and Julio Huertas should each receive a Navy Cross for capturing Ahmed Hashim Abed, the architect of the killings of four Blackwater security agents whose bodies were subsequently desecrated and displayed. Instead, the heroic trio faces a court martial next week. Welcome to the bizarro, up-is-down world of Barack Obama's military, in which punching a terrorist in the face is punished rather than rewarded.

Yes, yes, welcome to Obama’s military. One where the brave men and women who allow for the protection of our freedoms and provide for us security and piece of mind are reduced to political props.

Remember what General Casey said and what he directly implied – diversity trumps dead soldiers every time.

That about sums it up.

Rot the institutions and the degradation of the United States is soon to follow.

It's all going according to plan.

The only thing positive that has come out of this so far is that the SEALs have refused non-judicial punishment through captain's mast and have requested a trial by court-martial.

The fact that they know they’ve been wronged and were only in the process of doing their duty by following specific orders has reinforced their belief of innocence and will elevate the trial for all to discover (even though military judicial proceedings are not publicized, the immediate word will get out). Mostly, the public will be at least aware that something insidious is going on.

Matthew McCabe, a Special Operations Petty Officer Second Class (SO-2), is facing three charges: dereliction of performance of duty for willfully failing to safeguard a detainee, making a false official statement, and assault.

Petty Officer Jonathan Keefe, SO-2, is facing charges of dereliction of performance of duty and making a false official statement.

Petty Officer Julio Huertas, SO-1, faces dereliction of performance of duty and making a false official statement and impediment of an investigation.

So this is how we reward our heroes? It’s a tough enough job protecting this country on the front lines of aggression. The current crop of alleged “leaders” have made it tougher for our military to be successful.
