Is it a coincidence that New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson's political donors won lucrative state contracts? If so, Richardson must be lamenting, oh unhappy accident! Alas, these "coincidences" are rarely that. The unseemly juxtaposition of a corporation donating more than a hundred thousand dollars to New Mexico's governor only to have New Mexico's government then award it more than a million dollars in contract work has cost Richardson a spot in Obama's cabinet. He withdrew his name from nomination as the new administration's secretary of commerce. More government, more corruption--something to think about as Obama seeks $700 billion to stimulate the economy. What corporate fatcats, merely by investing a few hundred thousand dollars into Barack Obama's campaign, will reap an exponential return on their investment through profits on this stimulus package? A small, constitutionally-restrained government offers few temptations for political entreprenuers on the make and politicians on the take. A $3 trillion behometh invites corruption.
Again, why would anybody invest millions into getting a job that pays only a couple of few hundred thousand?
Oh yeah, for the public service.
The worst part about this is that 'capitalists' tend get blamed for this socialist-flavored corruption of the market.
It has me chuckling when the ‘party of the people’ Democrats play the class warfare card and excoriate the rich because they are for the little guy and working man, when this last election Obama had so much money that he didn’t know what to do with it.
So where did this huge volume of money come from? From the noble working Mom and Pops donating their milk money? No. Let’s try the hugely wealthy business and media donors and big business liberal sugar daddies like Soros.
Seriously, a MILLION dollars? That's really, like...nothing (it was actually about 1 1/2). That number sounds really good on TV, but it's really not that much, and certainly not for the company involved. It's possible and even highly probable, it was a coincidence. IMO, this is media-created nonsense, and a million dollars is really not what it used to be.

Why do companies make political donations?
ONE MILLLLION DOLLARS!!!
Wait a minute. I thought he would be governing from the center?!
"With several of its fellows already firmly ensconced in the Obama Administration, the Center for American Progress (CAP) scored another coup when Obama named Brad Kiley as its Director of the office of Management and Administration.
Brad Kiley has been named as the director of the Office of Management and Administration by President-elect Barack Obama. Kiley, who is openly gay, is currently the director of operations for the Obama-Biden Transition Project and was a former vice president at the Center for American Progress.
In this role he will oversee all aspects of administrative services to all entities of the Executive Office of the President (EOP), including direct support services to the President of the United States. These services include financial management, human resources management and research assistance. He will represent the EOP before congressional funding panels.
CAP is a George Soros outfit as well as being funded by the Democracy Alliance, another group of Democratic billionaires. Also, Herb and Marion Sandler whose questionable lending practices doomed Wachovia when they took over their mortg@ge portfolio after purchasing their company.
CAP is identified with the hard left. They run the Think Progress website which hosts blogger Matthew Yglesias and churn out a steady stream of liberal ideas. The idea that so many of their members are now in government should worry us. These are not centrist Democrats - they are the far left of their party. And the fact that Obama has tapped so many of them to serve in his Administration is revealing of how he will govern."
I'm shocked, SHOCKED to hear about this!
