Smugitude

Why isn't John Kerry president? How unjust is a world where Radio America doesn't beat Rush Limbaugh in the ratings? Can you figure out how anyone could have possibly objected to the Equal Rights Amendment? This is the smug attitude that motivates the recent questions by liberals about Barack Obama's inability to open up a meaningful lead over John McCain. Despite one-sided media coverage and an overseas visit to his most enthusiastic supporters, Barack Obama is in a neck-and-neck race. Among likely voters, McCain actually leads in the most recent Gallup survey. There's a liberal sense of entitlement in the coronation of Obama 100 days before Election Day, yes, but also the parochialism of cosmopolitans. Pauline Kael summed up this paridoxical phenomenon best in 1972, "How could Nixon have won? Nobody I know voted for him." Abroad, Europeans act as if Barack Obama were already president. At home, liberals will experience short-circuiting in their already fragile mental wiring should he not become president. This is the best reason yet to vote for John McCain.

His seat on the 'Obama Air' plane was labeled "President".

There is no good reason to vote, let alone for McCain.

Man, aren't Euros crazy? There isn't one foreign politician who could ever show up in America and give an outdoors speech attended by thousands (let alone a "mile deep" like in Germany). The only foreigner that gets a response like Obama got is the pope. It just shows how far gone modern secular socialist states of Europe are in their love of Mammon over God. Politics is not the most important thing in life, and politicians are closer to the least important.

I don’t know Batman, if you’re serious, that’s a very obtuse and aloof attitude you’ve got going there.

Here on Planet Earth, those who don’t pay attention to those who are running things and how they exercise power stand a pretty good chance of getting trampled. So, although I would agree that politics is not the most important thing, our survival and our ability to pursue the more pure and noble disciplines in life have a lot to do with what philophies and rules our leaders espouse.

If Obama were to lose by a small margin (and it almost certainly would be small), it will be proclaimed by leftists as yet another stolen election. Some of them might react violently this time. They really do believe they are entitled to win - regardless of who they put up for consideration, and aside from what policies he promotes.

"Some of them might react violently this time"

This is exactly what I've been envisioning.....I don't believe Obama will win. More lawsuits and gnashing of t**th coming this fall on NBC.

Just goes to show the power of media.....and the denial of said power by the media.

Hey Dan , how in the world is the word t-e-e-t-h considered "questionable content?!

Did you have some dental work lately?

I can imagine the liberals becoming totally unhinged if Obama is not elected. I'm just going to have to move to Jesusland, then.

Mikey,

look at the first four letters as one word. Prudish, but there you are.

I hope the Obama supporters have a sense of humor
when he gets McGovernized in the upcoming election. I won't hold my breath, though. Inner cities will probably burn. Radical Leftists are not the majority in this country, though they rule the MSM and Academia. Obama is a Radical Leftist; at very least a Socialist- maybe even a Communist.
I hate to say it, but Conservatives are probably
screwed no matter who wins this election.

In the majority of this country, we don't burn the hood down when things don't go our way. We leave that kind of behavior to the third world $hithole countries where there is really no rule of law. So, what does that tell you about people who do riot and burn when things don't go their way?

Seems to me the conservative machine is well Oiled, it may succeed.
I am not sure why the republicans are failing...could be they have failed for the last 30 years to live up to their credo?
The only time the budget was balanced was by Clinton, our infrastructures are crumbling, look at bridges. Our schools are failing along with students, 24th rated in the world for age 13 students.
Foreclosures, and all the other ills have occured on the conservative watch..including 9-11 so do we blame the democrats? Or the ultra liberal with our money conservative republicans.
I think mr. Flynn should write a new book.
The rise and fall of the republican conservative party..yes you do need rebranding, with a hot searing iron.

What we need is more government, more programs and Democrats to run things. Then we can borrow more money from foreign governments who would have us fail to cover all of that wonderful government largesse.

Then, as with Kennedy, Johnson, Carter and Clinton, things will be right as rain. Right?

I think that all of the problems in this country since Eisenhower have been due to.....wait for it.....Bush!

Lee, the budget was balanced with a Republican congress. Check the Cons to see who's got the power of the purse.

But on second thought, check the Cons again and see if it is the President's job to make sure that prices don't get out of control or nobody goes under.
