Don't Educate the Idiots

Colorado liberals have unleashed an "Educate the Idiots" campaign aimed at generating votes from high-school dropouts, minorities, and others traditionally somewhere other than the polls on election day. It's incredibly offensive, and I don't know which party should be more offended: those termed "idiots," or the political party that sees itself as the natural home for the idiot constituency. Apart from its offensiveness, the campaign is incredibly idiotic in its own right. No salemen in his right mind would waste his time pushing a product on those who habitually show an aversion to it. It's akin to the beef industry attempting to expand its marketplace by focusing its advertising budget on vegans. Yet, every four years, liberals target young people with "Rock the Vote" and "Vote or Die" style campaigns. They embark on 50-state campaigns when almost half of those states would not vote Democrat even if the Republicans served up a Manson-Ono ticket. They target poor people, who not only constitute a declining share of the vote, but disproportionaly refrain from voting. In other words, the Democrats waste time appealing to the imaginary ballots of non-voters when they could be winning the votes of actual voters. Like so much of liberal activism, it's cathartic but ineffectual. I like it that way. Please, don't educate these idiots.

I thought this is what ACORN was for? Not only do they handle brain dead people, but actual dead people as well.

Books have been written about the life and many of the lawless misdeeds perpetrated by Obama and his sleazy handlers so it’s scary to think of a man more corrupt, dishonest and flawed than even Bill Clinton becoming the next leader of the free world.

Now we learn that on top of millions of dollars from famous Anti-American George Soros and other subversive groups being funneled into the Messiah’s campaign, more than $200 million in illegal overseas money has been donated as well.

Unlike the McCain campaign, which has made its complete donor database available online, the Obama campaign has not identified donors for nearly half the amount he has raised, according to the Center for Responsive Politics (CRP).

Federal law does not require the campaigns to identify donors who give less than $200 during the election cycle. However, it does require that campaigns calculate running totals for each donor and report them once they go beyond the $200 mark.

To make it worse, illegal campaign contributions which were an issue with Al Gore and some others have become the third rail for FEC investigators. They have essentially been told not to investigate before the election. What??!

So, because this guy gets a major pass from the liberal press and now from government agencies, we stand to elect a most corrupt individual as our next president.

"But citizens who abstain from voting after having prepared themselves to vote are also serving the democratic process, implicitly acknowledging that because they have only trivial preferences among the candidates and issues, their votes -- by being given equal weight with those who have stronger feelings -- are bearing too heavily on the final outcome"

"No salemen in his right mind would waste his time pushing a product on those who habitually show an aversion to it."

So we should stop making kids eat their vegetables because they have an aversion to them. You are part of the target population of this as well. People have an aversion to work, taxes, and getting out of bed... does this mean we shouldn't do these either.

If it were up to you we would still have segregated schools, where the minorities are underfunded and understaffed. Even with a legal de-seg program, these situations still exist.

So democrats are bad people for wanting to bring people to even status like equal jobs, pay, and opportunities. You are all so full of Sh*t.

and old lady, grow up...
"by being given equal weight with those who have stronger feelings -- are bearing too heavily on the final outcome"'

sure, the blood sucking radicals should have more say than even tempered people. you're an evangelical aren't you. go start your own Jihad.

Oil,

Do your thoughts ever meet each other? Seems like their would be an awkward pause, there.

I can't see how comparing potential adult voters to fussy kids helps your point. Regardless of how we view our kids opinion on vegetables, we don't then consult them for their opinion on vegetables or homework or anything else. Frankly comparing adults to kids is insulting--especially when you come from a side that says that whatever adults want to do for recreation is their right as adults.

Second, there was an injured party in segregation--if the South had stressed equal as much as separate then the case would have been harder to make. Apathy in regards to politics isn't even the crime of the "victimless" variety which normally evokes calls for personal choice and sovereignty.

There is an progressive (nihilistic) ethic that says that simply because an adult has chosen a course for themselves, nobody should be able to disapprove. After all who's to say what's right and wrong for someone else?

It's as ironic as it is a solid indicator of the vast infidelity of the progressive position that they seek the council of not only "kids who won't eat their vegetables", but convicted felons and people they describe as "idiots", to wage this war about the sovereignty of taste.

Yea, it's called headonism, and it's about 5,000 years old. Its really progressive though. If your view held true that it shouldn't matter, you should lobby to make suicide legal.

As for my @nalgy... open your eyes. These 'people' with an aversion to learning exercised said perspective as a CHILD, therefor my @nalgy is accurate. No one is an adult when they drop out of school, and the failures of the public schools and the Dept. of Education have stagnated their development to a point of complacency with ignorance. A.k.a. the 'adults' still have the mentality of a 16 year old.

Wouldn't it only be right to vote against the party that made your school a drug infested war zone in order to clean the other drug infested war zone known as Iraq.

OIL is just Horse by another name and he's a moonbat moron by any name.

Oil,

Irrelevant. It doesn't matter how old something is if a group holds it and it's inconsistent with another justification made.

Secondly, way to let the point whizz by you. Voting is authority. People who don't want to vote may be acting irresponsibly, but they are also voluntarily decreasing the effect of their lack of judgment. Our kids may childishly neglect nutritional wisdom, but we don't respond to that by offering them authority, if we want them to eat their vegetables.

In addition, you totally missed the idea of the progressive value of autonomy (which extends to "victimless crimes") and how that clashes with comparing other adults to kids because you don't think they're acting responsibly.

It's got nothing to do with whether voting Democratic is wrong. Voting Republican, Libertarian, Democratic, Constitutional or Green is not objectively wrong. Trying to expand your clout by convicts and adults whose judgment you question when left on their own, is screwy and you have to have a buy-in into a party in order for it to make sense.

It's got to make one wonder what about that party doesn't get traction among enough decent, responsible adults.

there is something to be said for the fact that a large turnout is always a threat to the right.

it is because these are the people who are in the lower class and recognize that it is the republicans that are responsible for the current situation.

Oh and by the way sheep, your decent, responsible adults lied and manipulated the country in order to wage an atrocious war, yet rejected funding for SCHIP, LIHEAP, and other credible programs because of a few MILLION dollars (basically like two tanks).

What would have happened if your your decent, responsible adults privitized social security and it lost 27% in one year like the dow jones has?

Get over yourselves, old people vote republican for a reason, they are senile. College students vote democratic for a reason, they are open minded and compassionate.
