"There's no doubt that we represent the kind of change Senator Clinton can't deliver on. And part of it's generational," Barack Obama explained to Fox News. "Senator Clinton and others have been fighting some of the same fights since the '60s. It makes it very difficult for them to bring the country together to get things done. And I think that's what people hunger for." I haven't thought about it this way, but I think Obama has a point. Clinton, whether it's her reference to a "vast, right-wing conspiracy" or her dismissive comments about baking cookies and standing by her man, always seems in war mode. She is vindictive, vengeful even. Her politics were formed in the bitter fights over Vietnam and Watergate. I don't think she can govern effectively. Obama, on the other hand, has a likable personality. I disagree with most of his stances on issues, but he comes across as a normal guy and not someone stuck in partisan mode 24/7. Obama's 2006 "Call to Renewal" speech is an excellent example of his conciliatory approach. Reading it didn't make me want to vote for Obama. It did make me realize his temperament is not that of your garden-variety Democratic politician.
The generational theme is actually part of Ron Paul's appeal to me.
Call it the revenge of the greatest generation. He is just old enough to not be a baby boomer and he completely ignores the style of politics of the boomer thugs we have had to deal w/. You can check out this great ABC interview he did for an example of how he stays directly on target, speaks rationally and has no interest in getting into ad hominem style campaigning, even against Hillary, a topic they gave him openings on.
The Baby Boomers were the most spoiled generation in history and the most derelict in preserving the country for the future, that is, the most immature. They did not raise the generations that came after them nor did they engage in constructive politics at all, let alone a politics that conserved this country's wealth, security, and liberty. Let's please get rid of them this cycle (no Clinton/Guiliani/Romney please!).
Hillary is a caustic witch touting the politics of doom and gloom. She is obviously a most unhappy camper and would be devastating to this country as President.
I don't trust Obama, not that I trust ANY of them, in the courage department. If you notice, he has always seemed to miss important votes on controversial issues. He did this in Illinois and I beleive he's done it in the US senate.
