The Associated Press reports that the Supreme Court will hear arguments about the constitutionality of a ban on "a type of late-term abortion." A type of late-term abortion? What "type" of late term abortion? The piece gets a little more specific when it notes that this "type of late-term abortion" is "what critics call partial birth abortion." The nerve of such "critics"! Calling it a a "partial birth abortion" when a mother gives birth to part of her baby so a doctor can more easily kill the baby? What's next? Calling a stand held up by three legs a "tripod"? How can language withstand such semantical assaults! My apologies for the sarcasm. Anyhow, the AP piece finally gets around to describing this "certain type of abortion": "The federal Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act prohibits a certain type of abortion, generally carried out in the second or third trimester, in which a fetus is partially removed from the womb, and the skull is punctured or crushed." That's an improvement over the verbal gymnastics displayed earlier in the piece. But is the AP aware of the word for a "fetus" that is "removed from the womb"?
I have personally found the technical term for partial-birth abortion even worse than the common term which the msm deems inappropriate. I mean how can a "dilation and extraction" possibly be a good thing? What's more, it is euphimistic itself and PBA gives a more accurate account of what occurs.
The worst term for at least one kind of PBA though is an "intrauterine cranial decompression." Talk about Dr. Mengele horrors. Last time I checked the cranium isn't in the uterus so who exactly has their cranium "decompressed" in this procedure? And the image of "decompression" is just disgusting.
I find it amusing, and, at the same time, disgusting, that some judge said the ban was unconstitutional because it didn't have a provision for the mother's health. Mother's health? You're delivering 90% of the Baby!!! Mother's health my @ss! I'm so tired of these semantics. At least have the guts to call it what it is. Legalized murder in the name of convenience!
We all know the game here. Semantics is the way to a better life. If you don't like the way something is described in plain English, perhaps because it is too graphic, disgusting, or horrific, just create a more pleasant-sounding name for it.
Thus we have abortion - for killing a baby.
Late-term abortion - ditto.
Partial birth abortion - natch.
Affirmative Action - racial quotas.
And so an.
On the other hand, the game can be played the other direction by the same miscreants:
Calling any demand for evidence for a claim or accusation a "restriction on my free speech."
Calling anyone who doesn't buy into the racial hucksters - racists.
Calling anyone who happens to notice a difference between men and women - sexist.
And so on.
These are the games you are forced to play when you know you will lose in the arena of ideas.
