Cell-Block Voting Bloc

If you buy into political scientist David Mayhew's theory that Congressmen are "single-minded seekers of reelection," what, other than a belief that criminals would vote for Democrats, explains Hillary Clinton's enthusiasm for a proposal forcing the states to allow convicted felons to vote?

I think that once a felon has done his/her time, they should be able to vote. We shouldn't disenfranchise them forever.

Chris,

I agree that it does not need to be forever, but it doesn't mean that as soon as they do "their time" that they should be able to vote. If a con gets out in October, I don't think they should be able to vote in November. There is no way for the community to tell whether or not this guy is between stints--as all too many convicts are.

Perhaps there could be a time of restoration, perhaps years after, perhaps after the maximum time for the felony. But I would let the community decide when that is.
