Kerry for Disc Jockey in Chief

His politics are horrible, but John Kerry's taste in music is excellent. The Democrats' nominee approached the podium on Thursday evening to Bruce Springsteen's "No Surrender." He closed to U2's "Beautiful Day." And he took his curtain calls to Van Halen's "Dreams." Surely this beats the mariachi bands and country music noise pollution that followed George W. Bush in 2000.

It's odd, though: do you think that their choice of "Higher" signifies a preference for Sammy over Dave? I agree, however, with your assessment: the tunes were good picks, for the most part. The U2 was especially good.

The only place where they could have done better is with some of the other speakers: I found the choice of "Shout" and other raucous rock tunes --which were used several times-- oddly incongruous when they were cued up right before and right after Theresa Heinz-Kerry's speech.

You would think that for her, they would find something more graceful and sweeping (presumably
--whatever you may think of her-- in line with the image they want to project of her). Only a person raised in a Baptist church can keep time to that tune, and it's rather manic for an African-born Portuguesa patrician philanthropist.

That was the triumph of democracy over taste.

Democracy ALWAYS wins out over taste.

"His politics are horrible"

- Is horrible the right word? I know it doesn't work for you but there are hundreds of millions of people around the world that think Bush's politics are horrible. Seems to me that its not the politics that are horrible but people..ask conservatives and liberals about horrible people in control of our country and walking the streets and getting married and not making the right decision in the sack. Seems like its a horrible world, but everyone gets a choice of who to support, whatever gets you off.

His politics are horrible not only do I disagree with them but they suck. Yes some people are horrible as well.

I would have preferred to hear "Tragedy" by the Bee Gees.
