It's classic that Al Gore sold Current TV not to Time Warner, Comcast, or some other traditional media comglomerate but to Al Jazeera. What is it about Current TV that Al Jazeera finds so enticing? Eliot Spitzer, who has proven that he won't get into bed with anybody, has opted out of the not-so-strange-bedfellows arrangement. So has California Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom and former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm. But the former vice president of the United States finds that the two media entities--now one--share much in common, both existing "to give voice to those who are not typically heard; to speak truth to power; to provide independent and diverse points of view; and to tell the stories that no one else is telling." Gore's story here is surely one that no one else is telling.
Al Jazeera English is one of the best journalistic outfits in English. Any concrete reasons as to why it's inferior to MSNBC or Fox News?
I see what you're saying after reading this again. I just assumed you were bashing Al Jazeera. Maybe you were, but not in the way I inferred.
Not sure what's going on over there. I never watched much current but liked it in theory, and some of my favorite journalists like Matt Taibbi were frequent guests on those shows.
Say what you want about Current TV, Infomania (with Connor Knighton) and the original 30 minute Rotten Tomatoes Show were two of the best tv shows in recent memory.
Funny how Gore chose to sell Current to Al Jazeera rather than to the Glenn Beck Network citing that the former’s message was more in line with his network.
And dope Joy Behar, one of Current's stellar line up, says she’ll be learning Farsi? Iran, Iraq, Qatar – all the same, right?
Oh, and the hypocrisy of 'Mr. Carbon Footprint' selling to his company to concerns in a country that is one of the biggest producers of oil?
Have I mentioned that liberalism is a mental disorder??!
