I have an observation from a guy who fancies himslef a marketing wonk- I never knew Flynfiles had links at the bottom of the site. Frankly, I only visit to read the latest posts, and never have scrolled all the way down to the bottom. I would suspect that most regular visitors (who are likely squeezing in visits while at work and need be swift) employ similar customs.
Being a big fan of click counts, I might wonder aloud if altering the placement of the ads would enhance click-through numbers...

I don't know if the cap exists beyond clip art. Julian Simon used to do that type of thing. I saw him on C-SPAN once wearing devil's horns and other Lucifer accoutrements. His point to the liberal audience was that to avoid confusion, he wore these items to indicate that, yes, he was the devil-figure that they had all been warned about.

I have been reading this site since the beginning, I think, and I seem to recall a contest of some sort a long, long, time ago where readers proposed slogans for the site that could possibly end up on FlynnFiles coffee mugs, t-shirts, bobblehead dolls, messenger bags, etc. Yet, I don't remember anything coming from that contest? I for one would proudly drink whiskey from a FlynnFiles flask, or use a FF ashtray or any other knick-knacks you decided to merchandise.

Is the overhead on that too much to invest in as a means of supporting the site?

Ya Brian I also recall that contest and have never heard about it since. This is an outrage! To never see or wear a Flynnfiles t-shirt is depressing to say the least! By the way Dan, did u ever decide on the logo that u put up as a contest of sorts? By the way I went to N.Y.C. to see the Black Crowes Monday night and they rocked the joint down. Goldie and Kurt were dancing around fairly close to us which was cool. Going back on Sunday for there Easter Sunday Special!!! Great to see them rockin again, its been too long!

No one won the contest because no one won the contest. In other words, the suggestions for a t-shirt slogan were lacking. I haven't given up on the idea, and hopefully with more readers we'll get better ideas, and with more time I'll move on setting up the Cafe Press store for the site.

Congratulations on seeing the Black Crowes. They are going on tour with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers this summer.
