Bad Words

Lake Superior State has released 2010's list of banned words and phrases for "Mis-use, Over-use and General Uselessness." (Lake Inferior State, the imaginary university where I serve as chancellor, may counter with a list of unnecessary capitalizations.) I am happy Lake Superior State says goodbye to "bromance," "teachable moment," "app," and variants of "friend" as a verb. But "chillaxin"? I have never heard of it until now and plan to overuse it for 2010. E.g., I plan to go to work at the library this afternoon, but following dinner you'll find me chillaxin by the fire. Feel free to use "chillaxin," or any of 2010's banished words, in the comments section below.

I've been using chillaxin' for quite some time now. If someone is panicing, getting all upset about something that doesn't warrant such distress, I say--"Chillax a second!"

Well...goodbye Obama-Yo-Mama. We hardly knew ye.

Personally, I like the whole "czar" thing. It makes for a great reminder of what the people who rule us think about themselves.

No Dan, don’t use that word! “Chillaxin” sounds like something that would be used by one of the illustrious grads of one of the Florida football schools.

The ever present O - the man who is a constant on talk shows, the news, magazines, newspapers, who can not get enough face time - was chillaxin for three days in Hawaii golfin', swimmin', smokin' the Marboros, drinkin' the 4.0's before making any statement about ANOTHER "isolated" incident where an "alleged suspect" tried to kill three hundred Americans on Christmas day.

Surely "reach out" has been banned by now. No?

The O was on the tube yesterday after chillaxin maybe too much in Hawaii and was making the case for Gitmo being the cause for the escalation of Jihadist activity in Yemen. Exsqueezeme??!

The more this guy talks, it becomes ever more clear that he is not just an intelligent ideologue but is in fact a dope.

He might want his handlers to look up a little recent history where Jihadists set a bomb next to one of our ships in Yemen in 2000 before Gitmo was even an issue.
