Students collected care packages for deployed troops at Suffolk University. A law professor then announced how little he cared for care packages. "I think it is shameful that it is perceived as legitimate to solicit in an academic institution for support for men and women who have gone overseas to kill other human beings," Michael Avery wrote in a mass email. He explained that "sympathy" for such people is "not particularly rational." Read my article @ FrontPageMag.
I watched a great series on the History Channel over the weekend: Viet Nam in HD.
In one segment, a sergeant was talking about coming home, so proud of his uniform and the medals he had won and having people, literally, moving away from him and giving him the evil stare. The point was that most of these vets were drafted and were sent by their country to do a job. Even though most of them did not agree with the reasons they were sent there.
It's a bit different now and since 9/11 the military seems to be more appreciated overall. But when does the American public and especially the left GET that having a military is an absolute necessity? Do they really believe if we throw up our hands and are pleasant to foreign aggressors that they will go away? This kind of attitude is what has Russia, China and most militant Muslims licking their chops.
Avery didn't so anything to stop the care packages, did he? If so then let him ramble on, I would venture this doofy jibberish will only serve to strengthen the support for the troops, past and present.
