It's Not Called 'Dependence' Day

Professors at Harvard University surmise in a study that the Fourth of July is a Republican holiday. Read my column @ Human Events that posits that while Independence Day is a holiday for all Americans, the pair of Ivy League academics squeamish about a celebration of independence, freedom, and patriotism tell us much about the misplaced allegiances of some of our fellow countrymen.

Among other things this wonderful 4th of July weekend, I was re-visiting the John Adams series on HBO and when observing the struggle and the intelligence and shear guts it took for our Founding Fathers to break away from a monstrous political and military power to claim independence and to form a completely revolutionary model of government, it is an inspiration and should not be degraded by a few miserable America hating academics.

The former were men of great intellect, patience and vision. I often wonder if the latter are men of great intellect just opting for the contrarian point of view or are they not as perceptive as they pretend to be?
