Howard Zinn, Intellectual Moron

Tomorrow, the History Channel airs "The People Speak," a series based on Howard Zinn's "A People's History of the United States." Today, Big Hollywood features Howard Zinn, Intellectual Moron, an evisceration of said book based on my longer piece in "Intellectual Morons: How Ideology Makes Smart People Fall for Stupid Ideas." Read the piece here.

Very well done. Zinn IS a broken record.

I think your point is well made when explaining how if those evil white mostly Christian founding fathers of European decent really wanted a government of oppression and one with the express purpose of pursuing profits, they would have adopted another monarchy and not gone through the effort to set up a rights based democracy with all of its complicated mechanisms.

Whenever I hear one of these leftist academics spin these fairy tales I wonder if they've thought it through. Or maybe they are so hung up on ideology that they can see the forest?

Disparaging our system that has been a model of freedom and rights for the world and opting for a system that has seen over 100 million people murdered and REALLY oppressed in he name of total control seems inconsistent with the facts.

Why may I ask is anyone surprised? They have been teaching this crap in the public schools for 40-50 years and are now going in for the kill. As man on the street interviews have revealed for years- many American youth are blithering idiots. But you know what? Americans deserve this, just as they deserve the idiot president they have now. They have allowed this to occur over genertions, and have denied teaching anything with morality or an absolute character to it. When I hear people being astonished about the trajectory of our country I wonder what planet they have been living on. Please spare me the outrage. I mean in 2007- Hannity exposed Obama and his associations- no one was interested. The American public has a large proportion of "drones" who could care less- and the media and school system's have been allowed to metastasize to their present dimensions by an apathetic and stupid American electorate.

They are interested in being "right," that is having an answer that can be twisted to fit all questions or having questions that can all be twisted to fit their "answer." Ideologies all attempt to create perfect systems rather than noting that humans are far too complicated for simplistic schemes. The very attempt to create such a scheme reveals either a poor understanding of human nature or contempt for human nature. If people like this obtain true power we end up with the atrocities of the Spanish Inquisition, the Nazis, the Soviets, and who knows what is next when.

It's not difficult to get accused of being a Marxist nowadays - especially if you're in Hollywood. Just try to suggest that the perspective of the poor and oppressed is important and watch how they chase you down Hollywood Boulevard with burning copies of the Communist Manifesto.

Chase you down in Hollywood with burning copies of the Communist Manifesto? Who? When? Sounds like Pelosi and the Nazis she sees in her soup!

My how the left is subject to hyperbole. Often times to defray the guilt of the actions that they themselves perpetrate.
