Isn’t that refusing to alter your theory despite overwhelming facts contradicting your original thesis?
The Bush administration is to date are logically and factually incorrect not only on the economy but in the mess they have made in Iraq. But because they are politically driven they are superstars within the Republican party. Their inaccuracies, falsehoods, and frauds serve the right causes, so others excuse, overlook, or deny them. If the intellectual morons were few in number or scant in influence, the rest of us could ignore them. Reflexive adherence to ideology has negated critical thinking. It is the hallmark of politics in 2004, that people vote for party not logically in their best interests. Ideology provides cover to the blind partisanship of the swiftboaters and Dan Rather types. Ideology thus makes smart people stupid, creating the intellectual morons.

About Dr Ehrlich's specific prophecies, I do not know, but about the general idea of overpopulation, there is no doubt. The world at over 6 billions is somewhere around 4 billions too many people for this planet to support. No amount of cute critique will dispell that reality. The environment, especially in overpopulated areas, including the U.S. is taking irrecoverable punishment. The new politically correct position is that there is no problem with overpopulation, famine, or dwindling resources. More BS.
Of natural resources, there are only so much. Water is one of those. Texas, and generally the Southwest is already short. The aquifers are drying up; Texas is heading into desalination. Overgrown, overpopulated California, especially LA, is in a tussle for further supply of water from the Colorado river; Las Vegas, lake Meade , is in drought, very low on water. Falcon Lake, Texas , along intermittent stream, once free flowing, Rio Grande, is down and has been for 20 or more years.
We have upwards of 15-20 million illegal aliens, mostly latino, resident in the U.S
The new PC on that is that we need more to do the work 'no one else will do' which is pure BS(these numbers are consistently underreported) I personally know about that. We keep importing poverty and tax burdens to keep those people up; the net costs of doing so are $10 billions or more every year.
For the U.S. at 293 millions, we are 90 millions too many people. Our population growth rate in the 90's went exponential, the highest in the world, equal to that of Bangladesh, that mainly due to latino illegals and their higher birthrates. We went from 200 millions in the '60s to there, and are now, after only China and India, the most populous nation in the world. Anybody is nuts if they think we can afford to continue taking those people in.
Another fact 'underreported' by the new PC media is that with at anywhere near 10+ millions,or even less, criminal aliens inside our borders, we are an invaded country. You don't have to have a superior intellect to know we're overpopulated when you see the California freeways, try to drive thru Houston and surrounding 'bedroom' communities. This place has grown into the surrounding towns and counties.
New PC position is to 'legalize' a horde of crimninal aliens who procreate themselves out of a place at the table and then insist they have the 'right' to 'migrate' into this counry, despite our laws. They come, are now replete with pols, new day 'Zapatistas', intent on taking over the country. See Calif Coalition for Immigration Reform: "The Takeover of America". The Mexicans have exported their perennial revolution to the U.S. Just come down here and look around, it's wall-to-wall mexicans. We're threatened with being literally 'screwed' out of our own country, and we need troops on the border to close it and the National Guard to round up and deport the illegals. Should consider rescinding the amnesties.

Amazing. Traffic sucks, therefore the world is overpopulated.
